Nael Nadif Kasri
Professor of Medical Neurosciences for Neurodevelopmental Disorders
I am a neuroscientist with a passion for understanding how neurons communicate—and what happens when this communication is disrupted.
As a first-generation university student, I began my academic journey in Biochemistry at the University of Leuven (2000) and developed a strong interest in calcium signaling during my PhD.
My postdoctoral work at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory sparked my fascination with neuroscience, where I taught myself electrophysiology and became deeply interested in synaptopathies—disorders caused by disrupted synaptic function.
Radboud UMC research group
Since establishing my research group at Radboud UMC in 2011, I have focused on unraveling the molecular mechanisms behind neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), including
-
intellectual disabilities
-
autism spectrum disorder
-
epilepsy
Working closely with clinicians and geneticists, we aim to advance our understanding of rare genetic conditions.
